Supply Chain Control Tower
Overview
The Supply Chain Control Tower architecture provides end-to-end supply chain visibility, exception detection, and decision support by aggregating data from execution systems into a unified operational picture with real-time alerting and guided response workflows.

Component Descriptions
- Event Streaming Platform: Real-time ingestion of events from all execution systems; provides a durable, replayable event log.
- Control Tower Data Platform: Unified data store combining structured and streaming data; maintains the current state of orders, shipments, and inventory.
- Exception Detection Engine: Rule-based and ML-driven engine that identifies deviations from plan (delays, stockouts, quality events).
- Alert & Workflow Engine: Routes exceptions to the right team with guided resolution workflows; tracks time-to-resolve.
- Visibility Dashboard: Role-based operational views for order management, logistics, procurement, and executives.
Key Design Decisions
- Source systems push events; the control tower never writes back to operational systems directly (read-only integration).
- Exception rules are configurable by operations teams without IT involvement.
- The platform is designed to ingest new data sources without architectural changes.
